2010 Scholarship Program
We thank all those who send in donations to our scholarship through the year and who sponsor us in our endeavors. We appreciate the consistent support of the Monsee Family and Irene Bielefeld as well as the Grand Council of Steuebn Assoc. The Centurions, The New York Law Enforcement Foundation* and The Police Reserve assist us throughout the year. The fraternal organizations are indebted to them for their interest, assistance and generosity. The leaders of these organizations that I’ve come to know and wish to thank are Mr. Joe Dippel, Dep. Comm. Reggie Ward of Mount Vernon PD and Mr. Mitch Levy.
Each year we award approximately $6500 in scholarship awards. At our Scholarship Night, we present the winners with their awards and thank our benefactors. It is also our summer Family Night. The families come and we have a great time at the Varuna Boat Club. It’s beautiful on the water, where we sat last year eating al fresco. The weather was perfect. The Department Units were there for the kids, showing off the Harbor Boat, Highway Unit motorcycle, Bomb Squad dog, the Emergency Services Unit robot and the Mounted Unit gave rides on the horse. It was excellent.
